Tampa tutoring center offers reading examinationThe Ford Center for Reading conducts a formal assessment with every child entering our programs and on-going assessment informs our daily work. There are four types of formal assessments, each with a different focus.

  • Diagnostic Assessment
  • This extensive 3.5 hours evaluation may be used independently of our programs to determine an individual’s achievement profile, or it can be used to gain entry to our remedial program.
  • Screening Assessment
  • Specifically designed for students in grades K, 1, 2, and 3 who seek entry into our preventive program, the 10-30 minute screening looks at critical reading skills and is used to determine a child’s placement in the program.

  • Progress Monitoring Assessment

  • Conducted every month with students in the preventive program, this 10-15 minute evaluation is used to conclude whether specific objectives have been met.

  • Outcome Assessment
  • Available to students exiting our remedial program, this measure is used to determine whether skills have improved and provides additional data for further recommendations.
